Son of a known poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan, ‘The Shehenshah’ of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan. He finished his studies in Uttar Pradesh and came to Bombay to pursue a career as cinema star, but his efforts were in vain since the film producer wanted someone with fairer complexion, and he was not sufficiently fair enough. He was successfully casted in Saat Hindustani and made his debut from there. Thanks to a letter of introduction from Mrs. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime-Minister, as Amitabh was a friend of her son, Rajiv Gandhi, that he was introduced into the film industry. Prateeksha

Prateeksha” is a well-known landmark in Mumbai's Juhu district. It was Big B's first purchase in the city. Senior Bachchan and his family settled here in the Juhu Ville Parle Development Scheme, but following the death of his parents, Amitabh moved to ‘Jalsa.' Bachchans still come here to relax and spend time with family, as he has spent a lot of time there.

Jalsa is so perfectly designed that it combines comfort, warmth, and elegance. 

It includes floor-to-ceiling windows, mirrored shelving, earthy stone, and wood to bring the modern interior back to life.

There are several bedrooms on the two levels, as well as a children's room for Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's kid Aradhya Bachchan, gold, silver, and brass fittings adorn an opulent and elegant living room, Plush carpets, a fold-out Tanjore picture, and exquisite paintings representing Indian themes makes the house more appealing, which you’ll spot in multiple pictures. Jalsa's living area is also connected to a large green grass in the backyard.

A variety of photo walls can be seen throughout the house's layout. There's one in the living room that's all about deities, one is dedicated to family photos in another area of the property, while the other is dedicated to Junior Bachchan's black and white photographs in an office-like setting.

Janak

The Bachchans have also owned the property ‘Janak' since 2004. It is utilised as an office and features a gym on the premises. According to claims in the media, Big B also owns an ancestral house in Allahabad that has been transformed into an educational foundation. Harivansh spent much of his early years at this house.

In addition, the Bachchans own a luxurious villa in Brignogan-Plage, France. Abhishek Bachchan, his son, is said to possess a magnificent house in Dubai's Jumeirah Golf Estates. This property has a total size of 5,600 square feet and is valued at about 35 million dirhams.

Amitabh Bachchan’s flats

Big B recently paid Rs 31 crores for a 5,704-square-foot duplex flat in Andheri, Mumbai's western suburbs. The property was purchased in December 2020 and registered in April 2021, for which the superstar paid Rs 62 lakhs in stamp tax, which was reduced to 2% of the property cost under the Maharashtra stamp duty reduction plan. The home was purchased by Bachchan in Crystal Pride Developers' Atlantis Building at Andheri West. The property is said to be on the 27th and 28th floors of the 34-story skyscraper that is still under construction. It also has six automated parking spaces.

Big B has a lot of flats around the country in addition to his luxurious bungalows. Two apartments in Juhu and one in Gurugram are also included. Jaya Bachchan, Big B's wife, owns two residential units in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. It was in 2013, when his daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan paid Rs 5 crores for a luxurious home on the 37th floor of Skylark Towers in Worli. After two years, the former Miss World purchased a new five-bedroom home in Signia Isles for Rs 21 crores in 2015.

 According to media sources, Amitabh Bachchan owns a piece of agricultural property worth Rs.3 crores in the Lucknow and Barabanki districts. Aside from that, he has a non-agricultural land of Rs.15 lakhs in Ahmedabad. In addition, the older Bachchan owns a commercial building in Juhu worth Rs 25 crores.
